GoFlyn ("the app") is a flight-tracking app for paramotor and paraglider pilots. We designed it to be private by default. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your data.
No account, no sign-up
GoFlyn does not require you to create an account or provide a name, email, or password to use it.
Your flights stay on your device
Flight tracks, timings, fuel data, milestones, and app settings are stored locally on your phone. We do not operate servers that collect, receive, or store this information. (The app includes an optional field for a self-hosted server address; it is empty by default and is only used if you choose to enter your own.)
Location
GoFlyn uses your device's location to record your flight track and show in-flight navigation. Location is processed on your device. If you enable background location ("Always"), recording continues while the screen is locked or you use other apps.
To show maps, weather, and place search, the app sends the relevant coordinates or search terms to third-party services solely to fulfill those requests:
- Map tiles — OpenFreeMap, Esri, and OpenTopoMap
- Weather & wind — Open-Meteo
- Place search & geocoding — OpenStreetMap / Nominatim
These providers receive only what is needed to answer the request. GoFlyn does not send them an identifier for you, and does not use this data to track you across apps or websites.
Photos
If you choose to save a shareable flight card, the image is written to your device's photo library with your permission. GoFlyn does not read or upload your other photos.
No analytics, ads, or tracking
The app contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising, and no third-party tracking. We do not sell or share your personal data.
Children
GoFlyn is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
